Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting the vehicle. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the terms of the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Ackworth, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, with age restrictions varying based on vehicle type. A valid full driving licence is required, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of current address must be presented, along with payment information and a security deposit. Any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement should also be met.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Ackworth office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely by trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same state as it was collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same amount of fuel as at pickup; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rental agreements include basic third-party insurance. You will find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial liability. It’s advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless additional coverage is secured. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, irrespective of existing insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle:
- The vehicle may not be used for illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. It is prohibited to transport hazardous materials or sub-let the vehicle to others. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Users must comply with passenger and weight limits and stay within the designated geographical area unless prior arrangements have been made.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Ackworth will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims is limited to the total amount paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
